Post Operative Instructions

Supporting Your Recovery Every Step of the Way

After your dental treatment, it is important to follow a few simple instructions to help your mouth heal properly and avoid any complications.

Whether you have had a tooth removed, a filling placed, or gum treatment, we are here to guide you through what to do next.

General Aftercare Tips

Looking after the treated area is key to a smooth recovery. Most procedures require only minimal downtime, but your care at home plays an important role.

Helpful reminders for after most treatments:

  • Avoid touching the area with your fingers or tongue
  • Stick to soft foods for the first 24 hours
  • Avoid hot drinks while your mouth is still numb
  • Don’t smoke or drink alcohol for at least 24 hours
  • Keep your head elevated if resting or sleeping
  • Take any prescribed medication as directed

Oral Hygiene After Treatment

Gentle oral hygiene is still important after a dental procedure.

  • Brush and floss as normal, but avoid the treated area for the first day
  • Rinse gently with warm saltwater after 24 hours (not before)
  • Avoid commercial mouthwashes unless recommended by your dentist
